Rita Norton mostly did clerical work at Ochsner Hospital while she was employed. She graduated from Sophie Wright high school. She was an active member in her church as a Eucharistic minister. The Church she was married in, St. Josephs on Tulane Avenue was her favorite place to say her prayers as she was a devote catholic all her life. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Her interests and what she spent most of her time doing was sewing, quilting, reading, and cooking; as any amazing grandmother would. She was everyone’s seamstress and best known for her microwaved roast beef recipe that no one could quite figure out how she fit into the microwave in the first place. All around she was a vibrant beam of light, everyone’s angel on earth and now our angel above us.
Rita was preceded in death by her spouse of 51 years; Mr. Gerald J. Norton, her parents; Ellay Pritchett and George Pritchett.
She is survived by her son; Michael J. Norton, her grand-daughter; Sloane S. Norton, and her daughter-in-law; Karen L. Norton.
