Rita Wagner passed away March 19, 2024. She was raised on a farm with her parents and two siblings and grew up with a strong sense of respect for others that she carried with her through her life. She liked everyone and one of her superpowers was shaking off the stuff that didn’t matter.
Rita was never idle and full of talent in so many parts of her life. She loved flowers and gardening, crocheting and needlepoint, reading anything and everything, solving the NYT puzzles, and all things creative. She is well known in her circles for her needlepoint artwork and over the top holiday decorations. And well known by her daughter for her giant sugar cookies.
Rita was a warm person with a kind nature. She was full of personality and special quirks and always tried to find the bright side no matter the challenge. She showed such poise, bravery and strength even during her most difficult times. All that knew her will never forget her charm, grace, sweet voice, and her gentle smile. She was one of a kind and truly loved her family, including their special quirks. She will be desperately missed more than words can say.
Youngest child of the late Henry and Louise Remedies, she is survived by her daughters Sheri Porter and her husband William Porter and Donice Wagner and her husband Andrew Canfill; her sister Hazel Corley and her husband Certice (deceased) and brother Henry Remedies and his wife Mary Ann; granddaughters Meghan Wagner and Emily Porter; bonus grandsons Christoper Canfill (Kristy) and Shawn Canfill (deceased); nephews Richard Corely, Terence Corley and Gary Corely (deceased); and several cousins.
A private interment will be on Wednesday at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home Cemeteries in New Orleans.
