

Robert John Callahan, known by his family and friends as Robby, passed away on Wednesday, March 16th, 2022, at the age of 48. He was the beloved son of Michelle Costa Taravella and John Robert Callahan; and stepson of Joseph Taravella and Claudette Raymond Callahan; grandson of Antoinette Artall Costa "MeeMee" and Victor Frank Costa "PaPa Vic", who he loved with all his heart. Robby is also survived by his siblings, Angela Callahan Williams (Paul), John Robert Callahan, Jr. (Tré), and Meghan Mikel Callahan; step-brothers, Joseph Taravella (Jeana) and Nicholas Taravella (Monica); and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Theresa Harrison Callahan and John William Callahan, Jr.
Robby was born in New Orleans, grew up in Metairie, and spent many years living Lakeview with his grandparents, MeMe and PaPa Vic. He spent the last few years of his life in the French Quarter. He attended St. Edward the Confessor and Grace King High School. He enjoyed skateboarding, music, especially heavy metal bands, had a black belt in karate, and was one hell of a cook!! He was a bartender by trade, and was well known for his time working at Charity Bar.
Robby spent numerous years battling with the disease of alcoholism… and now he has found peace.
Robby was well loved, and his presence was known everywhere he went. He touched the lives of many people, and will be dearly missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Mass in the Chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Tuesday, March 29th, 2022 at 12:00PM. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 10:00AM. The interment will follow the Mass at Greenwood Cemetery.
