Robert Thomas Welsh was born on June 1, 1950, and was a son of Clifford Welsh Sr. and Mary Belsom Welsh. He grew up in New Orleans and graduated from St. Stanislaus in 1970. He was also known to some as Bob or Bobby, names affectionately used by friends and family throughout his life.
Robert was a father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and dear friend, whom passed away in the early morning hours of August 16, 2026.
Robert was the father of Whitney Kay Welsh and Katherine Marcia Welsh Macaluso (Chad), and the grandfather of Logan Brown Macaluso.
He is survived by his siblings, Judy Graves (Frank) and Kevin Welsh (Tami). He was preceded in death by his brother, Clifford Welsh Jr. (Susan). Robert will also be lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews, Erin, Shannon, Colleen, Casey, Courtney, Matthew, and Nicholas.
Beyond his family, Robert shared a special and lasting friendship with Chris Wegmann (Eva). Their friendship was one of deep trust and loyalty. Robert held a special place in the lives of Chris's children, Katie, Joey, and Beau. They, too, will carry his memory with them.
Robert was the owner and operator of a third-generation family business, continuing a legacy that had been built by those who came before him. His dedication to the business reflected his appreciation for tradition and perseverance. His intelligence, sharp mind, served him well throughout his life. He possessed a natural wisdom.
But Robert's greatest legacy was not measured by the business he operated. It was found in the relationships he built, the people who trusted him, the people he loved, and the friendships that endured throughout his life. He was a trusted confidant, and a man whose intelligence, loyalty, and care left a lasting impression.
Robert will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though his absence will be deeply felt, his memory will remain a part of the lives he touched and the legacy he leaves behind.
Service will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at 10 AM at Lake Lawn Park Cemetery and Mausoleum, 5454 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Stanislaus in Robert’s memory.
Forever remembered.
