Ronald Navoy Lybrand passed away on January 10, 2024 at 88 in Metairie, Louisiana. He was born on July 1, 1935 to Emily and Howard Lybrand in Sheridan Arkansas. He was beloved by his daughters, Ron Lybrand, Brie Lybrand, and Donna Schlotter. He was the father figure to all of his grandchildren, Zac Lybrand, Brock Fuller and his beloved, Levin Fuller.
He touched the lives of those around him in countless ways. He graduated from the small town of Sheridan High School, his name still prominent with a brick along the hallowed halls commemorating his presence. Mr. Lybrand was a titan of the restaurant industry and became the founding father of the chains of Pitt Gills, Icornes, Brittany’s Pub and Dining House, and The Big Easy Diner.
Ronald Lybrand had a passion for Arabian showhorses, which brought him great joy throughout his life. Alongside his wife, Eloyease Lybrand; they built over 75 restaurants throughout the Gulf Coast; together they became among the who’s who of the of New Orleans society.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eloyease Lybrand, his daughter, Michelle Lybrand, and his son, Ronnie Lybrand. He is survived by his grandsons, Kenneth Schlotter and Scott Schlotter, his brother, Jim Lybrand, his brother-in-law, Jim Watkins, his daughter-in-law, Morgan Fuller, and son-in-law, Michael Garza. He had two great grandchildren, Christopher Garza and his newest great granddaughter of one week, Elle Elizabeth Fuller.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at 12:00PM. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 10:00AM. The interment will follow the chapel service at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
