Ronald James Phillips, on Tuesday, May 19th, 2015. Age 83 Years. Beloved husband of the late Charlene Franck Phillips. Father of Bari P. Vaz (David Vaz) and Charles F. Phillips (Lola Beilman). Brother of Warren Allen “Roy” Phillips (Mary Francis Ranatza) and the late Francis Edward “Frank” Phillips (Violet Spanich). Son of the late Berthella Janning and Frances Edward Phillips, Sr. He is also survived by his grandsons Michael and Scott Landry, and their father, Fred Landry; and his grandchildren Kellie and Nicolas Phillips. He was preceded in death by his companion, Mary Lombardino.
A native of New Orleans, he attended Warren Easton High School and Loyola University. He served for 14 yrs and 9 months in the United States Navy, in both reserve and active duty status. His final tour was as an Electricians Mate Second Class on the U.S.S. Woodson, ending on 1-Aug-62. For 31 years, he was employed by Sears, Roebuck and Co., his last position being Manager of the Service Center for south Louisiana. After retiring, he began a second career as Maintenance Director for Archbishop Blenk High School.
