Ronald Joseph Savoie passed away on Tuesday, April 2nd, 2024. He was a native of New Orleans, Louisiana who lived in Arabi until 2005. He was an active parishioner of Saint Robert Bellarmine Church where he served in the men’s club, building committee, finance committee and as the fair chairman for many years. He spent the remainder of his days as a resident of Covington.
He is survived by Suzanne Dick Savoie, his wife and “Honey” of 48 years. They shared four children together: Shawn Stafford (Eric) of Holden, Louisiana; Tim Savoie (Ashley) of Zachary, Louisiana; Monica Savoie; and Emily Comeaux (Chase) of Reno, Nevada. He has eight grandchildren: (Rene and Maisie Rougeau; Madelaine Savoie Johansson (Ryne), Tyler, Jacob, and Hailey Savoie; Isabella Grace and Addison Riley Comeaux) and one great grandchild (Sadie Aline Johansson). He is also survived by his brother Donald Savoie (Nean) and nephew Jamie.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jules Rene Savoie and Frances Serio Savoie and his beautiful daughter Monica Lynn Savoie.
Ron was an avid fisherman who spent much of his leisure time in and around Shell Beach, Delacroix, and Hopedale, along with the yearly freshwater camping trip to Wiggins, Mississippi. Later in life he was introduced to deer hunting by his great friend Joe Martin. He excelled at sports and was a member of the three-time City Champion Jax Brewery Baseball Team in New Orleans as a youth. He received an athletic scholarship to Redemptorist but chose to become a Holy Cross Tiger and play sports there.
He was an IT professional who spent his career of 34 years with Entergy in New Orleans. His last position with the company included pioneering new technologies and working with the Executive Communications Department with his buddy Larry Schnadelbach.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans, on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 11 AM. A catered visitation will begin at 9 AM. After the chapel service, Ronald will be laid to rest in Lake Lawn Park.
