Russell Edward Giacontiere, Sr. passed away on March 31, 2024 at the age of 66. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on July 2, 1957. After graduating from East Jefferson High School, he went on to a career- predominantly in public relations. He worked for Lucky Coin, the New Orleans airport, and was even an insurance sales agent for ten years. Russell was a man of faith and attended Metairie Ridge Presbyterian Church for many years. He served his spiritual community as a member of the St. Francis Men’s Club. In his free time, he enjoyed watching the New Orleans Saints games, taking trips to Florida, embarking on cruises with his family, barbequing, listening to music, and dancing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benedict Nick Giacontiere and Dorothy Knight Giacontiere; brothers, Robert Giacontiere, Sr., Roland E. Giacontiere, Sr. and Richard A. Giacontiere, Sr.; and nephew, Raymond J. Giacontiere, Jr.
Russell is survived by his wife of 37 years, Virginia Frederick Giacontiere; sons, Russell Edward Giacontiere, Jr.; stepsons, Steven C. Martin and Scott A. Martin; sister, Rose M. Giacontiere; brother, Raymond J. Giacontiere, Sr.; and step grandchildren, Isabella Martin and Seth Martin; as well as many nieces nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews.
The family would like to humbly thank God for taking him to heaven peacefully on a blessed Easter.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service officiated by Rev. David Watson, B.C.C., at All Saints Mausoleum, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans, on Friday, April 12, 2024 at 11:30 AM.
