Salvador L. D'Antoni, Jr.

Salvador Lawrence D’Antoni, Jr. departed peacefully for his final rest stop on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his family, at the age of ninety-three. Sal was a proud product of NOLA’s ninth ward where he attended St. Mary of the Angels, Francis T. Nichols, and Soule business college.

Continuing a family legacy, Sal built a career in the transportation industry and became the proprietor of S. D’Antoni Motor Lines and Gemini Transport.

Together with his beloved deceased wife Ruby Couvillion D’Antoni of 63 years, they raised five children: Donna D. Piediscalzo (Salvador), Salvador III (Jennifer), Lawrence (Debi), James, and Chary D. Egan (Art), along with 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews who all affectionally referred to him as BeeBee.

He was preceded in death by his parents Salvador L. D’Antoni, Sr. and Edith Pradat D’Antoni, his brother Gerald D’Antoni, his brother-in-law Raymond Couvillion and sister-in-law Viola Couste Couvillion.

A longtime resident of Jefferson parish, Sal contributed to the development of St. Clement of Rome parish and Johnny Bright playground. He was deeply proud of his Sicilian heritage and could be seen regularly riding on St. Joseph Day with the Italian American Marching club, along with several Mardi Gras organizations. He was a proud member of American Legion Post 307 and The Cefalutana Italian Society.

Retirement was no match for Sal’s energy. Together with Ruby they purchased Christmas gifts for a less fortunate family with a hospitalized child. What began as a simple act of kindness grew to support hundreds of similar families throughout the metro area thru a non-profit organization that was renamed “Rubys Kids” upon her passing. Sal’s driving passion was lobbying individuals and organizations to support his vision for Ruby’s Kids.

Additionally, we are particularly grateful to Niki Brown, Sal’s longtime partner, for becoming part of the family via the love and support that she afforded our patriarch.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Friday, October 2, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow at Metairie Cemetery in All Saints Mausoleum. In honor of Sal’s favorite color, please wear something red.
