Salvatore Joseph Ciolino, born in New Orleans on November 4, 1957, passed away at the age of 68 on May 15, 2026, in the arms of his loving wife, with his two adoring children and their cherished spouses by his side.
Sal was a beloved husband, father, and Big Nonno. He lived a life defined by faith, generosity, and unwavering love and dedication to his family and friends. His only hobby in life was spending time with his beloved wife, children, and grandchildren. Sal had a contagious spirit and smile. He could light up any room and never met a stranger. He had a profound love for music, and he took great pride in his Italian heritage. He had a strong devotion to St. Joseph, and he never tired of talking about his Catholic faith and pro-life values. He and his wife hosted countless St. Joseph's Day dinners and altars at their home over the years, welcoming family and friends with faith, tradition, and generosity. He spent one of his final weekends at his deeply cherished silent men's retreat at Manresa, a sacred tradition he faithfully returned to for over 30 years. He attended Catholic grammar school, New Orleans Academy, and the University of New Orleans.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Mary Ciolino. He is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Jan; his children, Felicia Robertson (Alex) and Felix Ciolino (Allie); his grandsons, Luke and Will Robertson; his sister, Mary McDonald; his brothers, Steven, David, and Leonard Ciolino; along with countless nieces, nephews, brothers-and sisters-in-law, cousins, and many dear friends.
His family would like to thank the amazing providers, pharmacists, and nurses of Neurocritical Care at Ochsner Main Campus for their world-class care at the very end of his life.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026 at St. Clement of Rome Church, 4317 Richland Ave. Metairie, LA. Visitation will be held from 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM with a funeral Mass to begin at 1:30 PM. Interment will follow at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, please consider mass dedications, prayers for his soul, or a donation to Louisiana Right to Life, as that is what Sal would have wanted.
