Samantha Joan Gniady departed this life on Thursday, December 8, 2016, at the age of 30, after a long and courageous fight with Tay - Sachs disease. She was born January 15, 1986, in New Orleans, Louisiana to David and Susan (Fussell) Gniady. Samantha attended St. Michael’s Special School in New Orleans and St. Mary’s School in Alexandria. She is preceded in death by her twin sister Cassandra “Cassie” Faye Gniady, maternal grandfather, William R. Fussell, paternal grandparents, Nellie Faye Gniady and Walter P. Gniady, and her uncle, William Paul Fussell. Samantha is survived by her loving and devoted parents, David and Susan Gniady; her sisters, Rachel Gniady Hurst and Sarah Gniady Bass (Sam); her brother Peter Gniady; nieces and nephews, Dylan and Emma Hurst, and Remy and Emmett Bass; maternal grandmother Joan Russell; and a host other loving family and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. followed by interment in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be held prior to the services beginning at 11:00 a.m.
