Samuel “Sammy” Geismar Murphy passed away peacefully on July 25th. Born November 28, 1948 to Margaret and Stanley “Red” Murphy, Sammy grew up in New Orleans, where he graduated from Fortier High School. From there, he continued his college education and relocated to Metairie, where he lived with his beloved wife of 47 years, Pamela Wilke Murphy. He worked for National, Canal Villere, K&B, and Rite Aid throughout the years. Sam loved his three children more than anything—Shawn, Christopher, and Nicole Murphy. He was blessed with two amazing granddaughters, Erin and Claire Murphy. Though he was an only child, his cousins were like brothers and sisters to him, and he loved his family. He was a gentle giant with a heart of gold and was always full of love.
He leaves behind a sister-in-law, Patty Reed (Ricky), and a brother-in-law, Jerry Wilke (Mary Ellen). He also leaves behind nieces, nephews, and other loved ones who will miss him dearly but remember him fondly.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans, on Monday, August 2, 2021 at 1 PM. Visitation begins at 11 AM. The burial will follow the service in Greenwood Cemetery Mausoleum.
