Samuel Patrick Stromme, age 79, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, in Houston, Texas, after a long and valiant fight against Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and vascular dementia. Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on December 3, 1946, he spent 41 years in Louisiana before moving to Houston, Texas in 2022.
Sam graduated from Sulphur High School in 1965 and was accepted to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point where he spent his first two years of higher education. He continued his military service in the U.S. Army Reserve while attending Oklahoma State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Sam spent most of his working career as an engineer with Westinghouse and Entergy at Waterford 3 nuclear power plant. He then worked with American Express Financial Advisors before joining with an Entergy colleague at American POS Leasing Corporation. He retired in 2019.

Sam lived a very loving, fun-filled life, and did not know a stranger. He was an avid athlete and voracious reader. Many of his hobbies and talents were self-taught, such as snow skiing, piano, multiple foreign languages, and ballroom dancing. It was through ballroom dancing classes where he met Judy whom he affectionally referred to as his Dahlin’. They married in 1993 after three years of courtship. He and Judy traveled extensively in their later years. He will be missed tremendously by all who knew and loved him. Sam is known for his sweet personality and jovial sense of humor, even when words did not come easily, his smile came through his eyes. In his final days he was surrounded by loving family.
