

Sarah Brown Demazeliere, 84, passed away peacefully at her residence surrounded by her loving family on Monday, November 21, 2022. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on May 11, 1938 and was a resident of New Orleans. Sarah was a graduate of the New York Public School System and she continued her post-secondary studies at The Mecklenburg Hospital Nursing School in Plainfield, New Jersey. After completing nursing school, she served proudly as a Surgical Technologist with Dr. Boutte, Dr. Ernest Cherrie Sr., Dr. Ernest Cherrie Jr., Dr. Hewitt, Dr. Anne Marie Linhuber and Touro Hospital.
Sarah was a devoted wife of 64 years to Clyde Demazeliere, a loving mother to her only son Don Sr. and a dedicated grandmother. She devoted much of her time caring for her grandsons and helping them grow into the young men they are today. She appreciated her daughter-in-law who was the daughter she never had. When not with her family, Sarah spent her free time, especially Sundays, at the home of her best friend, Mary Hurst. Sarah was smart and always happy to share her thoughtful opinions with others. She was always up for a friendly, spirited debate and was passionate about her values. She will truly be missed.
Sarah is preceded in death by her mother, Sarah Brown; her father, Edward Brown; her brothers, Edward Brown and Norris Brown; her sisters, Marion Gilyard, Barbara Medley and Joyce Medley.
Sarah is survived by her husband, Clyde Demazeliere; her son, Don Demazeliere Sr.; her grandsons, Don Demazeliere Jr. and Donovan Demazeliere; her brother, David Brown; her sister, Shirley Blackman; her daughter-in-law, Nicole Hayes; her closest and dearest friend, Mary Hurst and a host of friends and loved ones.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, La. on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. with a Funeral Mass beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery.
