

Sarah Elizabeth Brocato Fazzio passed away peacefully at home on March 28, 2022 at the age of 91. Born on July 2, 1930, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Edward Fazzio, her parents, James and Sarah Cortese Brocato, brother Angelo F. Brocato, Sr, his wife Evelyn, sister Jennie Brocato Pusateri, her husband John and nephew Angelo F. Brocato, Jr.
She is survived by daughter Janice F. P. Taylor (Brandt), son Dominick J. Fazzio (Rebecca) and sister Michelina “Mickie” J. Brocato. She left behind five grandchildren, Sarah Perret McMurtry (Johnny), Dominick “Nick” Fazzio, Jenny Fazzio Carpenter (Kevin), Scott Robert Fazzio (Becca), Gina Fazzio Jones (Jay) and eleven great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Sarah was thankful for the loving help from the Sharon Abadie Family and Nancy Meunier. Sarah was also grateful for the Zu and Nanette Carpenter Family and their support over the years.
Sarah resided in New Orleans until Hurricane Katrina, moving to Kenner and later Gretna. She worked in her family business, James Brocato & Sons Italian Ice Cream after graduating St. Joseph’s Academy. After marrying John, she worked in his family business, Fazzio’s Bowling Lanes. Later she worked in Godchaux Department Store until its closing.
There was no bigger Saints fan than Sarah. While she enjoyed watching the Pelicans, cooking, baking and gardening, her family was her life. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Belle Chasse.
Private services will be held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home. No flowers or gifts are necessary in Sarah’s memory. The family asks that they only to be kept in your thoughts and prayers.
