On Tuesday, August 18, 2015, Sean Patrick Samuel passed away at the age of 42 after a year-long fight against glioblastoma brain cancer. Sean very reluctantly left behind one daughter, Olivia Ann Samuel; his parents, Barry N. Samuel and Lila Marlene Molaison Samuel, and younger siblings, Whitney Samuel Drennan (George) and Scott Richards Samuel (Sarah). He leaves also his wife, Lori Sheffield. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Harold Louis and Lila Richards Molaison and Bernard F. and Bertha Madere Samuel. He is also survived by nephew, Harris Drennan; cousins Gary, Christopher and Steven Samuel and their families, and Justin and George Molaison, and other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Sean was blessed with a brilliant mind and a relentless passion for learning. He attended Metairie Park Country Day and graduated from St. Martin's Episcopal School, where he wrestled and played football. He received his B.S. in Chemistry from Bucknell University. He went on to attain Masters Degrees from Tulane University in Toxicology, Molecular Biology and Public Health. There were very few things that could be learned, that Sean had not already mastered. His family will miss his humor and wit; his fiercely unique and independent spirit; and his sharp, passionate mind. Sean spent much of his professional time learning and working in laboratories. He was also of the last generation to work in the long-time family business, B. Samuel Co.
Sean's primary passion was his daughter, Olivia. He was a great collector of all types: aquariums, exotic fish from around the world, other pets of all kinds (four-legged, winged, and no legged), cars and stereo equipment. He loved traveling and scuba diving. He was a one of a kind character, always true to himself. He will be missed daily by all who knew and loved him. His family would like to thank Annie Chammarro, Denise Banks, Paulitha Perkins, and Lolita Frazier for their special care and support during this last year.
