Shankar "Shane" Bulchandani

Shankar Bulchandani, better known to many as Shane, was a devoted father, beloved brother, respected businessman, and cherished friend. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family and leaving behind a legacy of hard work, resilience, kindness, and unwavering dedication to those he loved.

Born on September 30, 1955, in Jaipur, India, Shane was the eldest of seven children, with four brothers and two sisters. At the young age of 14, he immigrated to San Francisco, California, where he began working alongside his uncle in the family’s custom tailoring business. His determination, strong work ethic, and entrepreneurial spirit were evident from an early age and would shape the course of his life.

On October 8, 1982, Shane married the love of his life, Nanda Kiran Bulchandani, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Following their marriage, he returned to San Francisco for one year before settling permanently in New Orleans, where they built their home and family together.

Over the years, Shane became a successful entrepreneur, owning and operating multiple businesses throughout the New Orleans area. Through his dedication and commitment to serving the community, he earned the respect and friendship of countless customers and colleagues. In 2019, after many successful years in business, he retired and had the joy of working alongside his sons, Amit and Rohit Bulchandani, at their individual stores, where he continued to share his experience, wisdom, and encouragement.

In 2020, Shane experienced the heartbreaking loss of his beloved wife, Nanda Kiran Bulchandani, becoming a widower after nearly four decades of marriage. Though her passing left an immeasurable void, he remained devoted to his family and continued to live with strength and optimism.

Despite facing significant health issues in 2023, Shane never allowed adversity to diminish his spirit. He maintained an incredibly positive attitude and was determined to stay connected with everyone he cared about. Whether through a phone call, text message, WhatsApp, or social media, he always found a way to reach out and make others feel loved. He also had a special affection for game shows, which brought him great enjoyment and countless hours of entertainment.

Shane was the proud father of two sons, Amit and Rohit Bulchandani, who were the pride and joy of his life. He will be remembered for his kindness, strength, generosity, perseverance, and unwavering love for his family. His warm smile, compassionate heart, and ability to connect with people from all walks of life left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Shane was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nanda Kiran Bulchandani; his father, Motiram Bulchandani; his father-in-law, Ramchand Sadhwani; and his brother-in-law, Kishore Lakhiani.

He is survived by his loving mother, Nirmila Bulchandani; his two sons, Rohit Bulchandani and Amit Bulchandani; his brothers, Raju Bulchandani (Sonia), Naresh Bulchandani (Sunita), Kamal Bulchandani (Raji), and Dilip Bulchandani (Kiran); his sisters, Rita Sadhwani (Raju) and Meena Lakhiani; his brothers-in-law, Ishwar Shari (Jaya), Pritam Dadlani (Neelam), and Harish Sadhwani (Nikita); along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and countless friends whose lives were enriched by his presence.

Shane’s legacy of love, resilience, generosity, and devotion to family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Sunday, July 12, 2026 at 10:30AM. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 10:00AM.

The chapel service will be livestreamed for all guests unable to attend in person.
