Sharon N. Christiansen

Sharon Nell Christiansen (née Faucheaux), of Metairie, LA, passed away on Saturday, July 25th, 2026. She was 81. Born on November 9, 1944 in Westwego, LA, she attended West Jefferson High School, graduating in 1962. She married Lt Col Edward W. Christiansen, Jr., and together they had one son, Terry. After moving around with Edward on various property management jobs in Destin, FL and Charlotte, NC, they settled back in New Orleans in the early 70s, beginning a lifelong love of travel starting in Europe in 1975, and eventually taking her to Hawaii, Alaska, Mexico, Belize, Honduras, France, England, Austria, Denmark, Norway, Italy, and Germany, some several times each over the decades, and making lifelong friends in a few of those places along the way. In the early 80s she expanded that interest into a job as a travel agent, which opened more opportunities and only increased her love of seeing new places. She, her family, and countless friends over the years relished spending most weekends at the family’s beloved ‘camp’, Moccasin Run, on the Tangipahoa River. She loved gathering wild blackberries to make blackberry dumplings, fishing with her cane pole, boating, hiking the lakeshore looking for Indian pottery, and playing ‘Uno’ and ‘pass the trash’ in the evenings. She loved her family fiercely, and dedicated herself to her true full time job, raising (and worrying about) her son, Terry. Always glittering, she was a friend to everyone she met. Widowed in 2014, in recent years she was blessed to spend time with her love and companion, Jeff Maclean, who dined, entertained, and lovingly cared for her until her passing. She is pre-deceased by her mother, Rose Ann Barras (née Badeaux), and her husband, Edward. She is survived by her brother Kim, her son, Terry, her grandson, Connor, her nieces Tonya, Elaine, and Michelle, her two stepsons Eddie and Jerry, and her step-grandchildren Jennie, Jay, Alex, Jessica, Kelly, Matthew, Caroline, Jace, and Lillon, and numerous great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Monday, August 3, 2026, from 12:00 until 2:00 pm at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans. A funeral service will follow in the chapel. Interment will be in Lake Lawn Park.
