

Sheila Fenton was born November 4, 1952 in New Orleans to parents Dorit Berger Fenton and Hugh R. Fenton. She attended Gentilly Terrace School, F. W. Gregory and graduated from Kennedy High School. Her interest in fashion and keen eye for its mechanics lead her to Washington University School in St. Louis where she earned a BFA in Fashion Design. She came back to New Orleans where she applied her newfound knowledge as she worked for her family’s business, Imperial Jewelry Company Inc. Later she entered Tulane University’s Business School where she attained her MBA utilizing it in her position managing computer systems who contracted with her employer.
Sheila’s warm heart and readiness for fun continued throughout her life. She was happiest when she was with her friends, always going places, including Holidays in the Oaks, parties in the French Quarter, costuming during Mardi Gras and each spring attending her biggest love, The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. The sights and sounds, music, and people and especially food and crafts were hypnotic for her, especially on locals Thursday when she went with her sister Gail Fenton Pesses.
Sheila was a graduate of the Young Leadership Council and was active in National Council of Jewish Women-Greater New Orleans Section. S
heila is predeceased by her parents, Hugh R. Fenton and Dorit Berger Fenton. She is survived by her beloved sister, Gail Fenton Pesses, her deeply loved nephew, Danny Pesses, and her niece, Nancy Pesses, as well as cousins spread out across the world. T
he funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at 10am in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, with visitation from 9am - 10am followed by burial at Hebrew Rest Cemetery No. III, 2100 Pelopidas at Frenchman St. The chapel service will be livestreamed at www.lakelawnmetairie.com.
