Sheridan Godbold Wright, age 82 years young, was received into heaven on August 15, 2026, in Atlanta, Georgia. She was a New Orleans native, born on August 18, 1943, and moved to Atlanta to be with her two daughters in 1990.
She is survived by her two daughters Deborah Bielski (Andre), and Sheridan Tischendorf (John); and preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Jeautel Roche Wright, all shared with her former husband, Samuel Archinard Wright, III. Also survived by her grandchildren, Taylor, Amelia, Blake, and Averie as well as her brothers James Julian “Jim” Godbold Jr. (Carol), David Roche Godbold (Cindy), and Mark Alan Godbold (Penny).
She was also preceded in death by her loving parents, Lorraine Henriques Godbold and James J. Godbold, and siblings, Gerald Robert “Jerry” Godbold, and Deborah Lorraine Godbold.
Her early work life included the Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation & Tourism as well as NASA Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans, LA. She stepped away from working to devote herself to raising her daughters. In Atlanta, she worked as an Executive Assistant for Prudential and MetLife where she met one of her closest friends. She was also an avid tennis player and found great joy in coaching her daughters’ high school tennis team at the Academy of the Sacred Heart in New Orleans.
Sheridan was a devoted mother, daughter, and grandmother and was the perfect example of motherhood. It is fitting that her day of passing was on the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Mother Mary as she modeled her life after her. She sacrificed everything for her loved ones with joy and a smile. Her grandchildren cherish the memories of their weekly Saturday night sleepovers at her house. We will miss her voice, her laughter, her stories, and simply knowing that she was there. We are grateful for every year, every memory, and every moment we were blessed to have with her. Her great love is her legacy.
Special thanks to her loving caregiver and friend, Susan Short, for always being there for Sheridan when we needed her the most.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA, 70124, on Saturday, August 29, 2026, with the visitation at 10:00 A.M. followed by Mass in the chapel beginning at 12:00 P.M. Interment will follow immediately afterwards at Greenwood Cemetery.
