Shirley Bradford Guercio

December 29, 1931 – February 28, 2026
Obituary of Shirley Bradford Guercio
IN THE CARE OF

Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home & Cemeteries

Shirley Bradford Guercio passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at age 94. Beloved wife of the late Richard T. Guercio. Daughter of the late Henry Boaz Bradford and the late Rose Mary Alles Bradford. Survived by her sons, Thomas Guercio (Monica), Michael Guercio, Craig Guercio (Linda), and Mark Guercio; her grandchildren, Trey Guercio, Natalie Guercio Scott (Matthew), Travis Guercio, Lauren Guercio, Caroline Bernadette McDonald (Patrick), Ryne Guercio, and Austin Guercio; and her great-grandchildren, Sophie Scott and Madeline Scott.

Shirley grew up in Old Metairie with her five siblings and graduated from Sacred Heart of Jesus High School in New Orleans - Class of 1949. She started her career at Pan American Life, where she met her future husband, Richard, and her best friend, Edna Winn. She started her family and later settled in the Willowdale subdivision in Metairie. She enjoyed bowling, socializing at Sunrise Country Club and gardening - she had quite the green thumb. She worked in the St. Mary Magdalen cafeteria when her kids were young, and later she worked at Lakeside Hospital as a receptionist for 24 years, working side-by-side with her best friend, Edna. After retirement, she enjoyed her daily walks in Lafreniere Park and cooking a big Sunday meal for her children and grandchildren.

A private graveside ceremony will be held for immediate family at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home next week.
