Simon Roy Moore

Simon Roy Moore, devoted husband, loving father, loyal friend, and ardent servant, was called home Thursday, July 30, 2026, at the age of 55. He passed peacefully surrounded by friends and family after battling an aggressive form of cancer.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Laura Magdelin Gresham, father, Martin Roy Moore, and many family members from his extended family, most notably his uncle, Thomas “Tom” Bailey, Sr. and aunt, Lucille “Cile” Bailey.

He is survived by his wife of over 30 years, Susanne Moore, his children, Lucille and Oliver Moore, his stepfather, Kevin Richard “Rickey” Horn, and stepmothers, Janette "Jan" Elizabeth Moore and Dianne Horn.

In 1987, as a young teenager, Simon moved from Little Hampton, England to Lake Charles, Louisiana, where he attended McNeese State University. He later transferred and graduated from LSU with a degree in speech communication. Simon was a people person and, as the British would say, had “the gift of the gab”. He used his talent of communicating with people to have a long, respected career in sales engineering; he worked for many Fortune 500 companies and finally retired from Fortune Global 500 company, Hanwha.

He was a true outdoorsman, he loved hunting deer in Mississippi, ducks and geese in southwest Louisiana, fishing off the Rigolets, kayaking in Arkansas, boating on the Bogua Falaya, and camping outside with “the boys”. He loved working with his hands as he never met a tool, or a tool bag, he could not find a use for. His hands were also put to good use in displaying his love of music. Simon was a talented singer and guitar player and often used those gifts for worship and, quite simply, to light up a room. He loved cooking and spending time at home with family and friends.

Simon was a man of faith and would share His word to all that would listen. He loved to help others and would be the first person to give you the shirt off his back. He was a self-professed “Jack of all trades and a master of none” and was eager to assist anyone when called upon. He will be remembered fondly for his charm, charisma, brotherhood, humility, and British wit.

A private graveside inurnment for family only will be held at Metairie Cemetery, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA on August 20, 2026, at 10:00 am.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 3:00 pm at the New Covenant Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 4375 Hwy 22, in Mandeville, LA. The memorial will be a happy celebration of Simon’s life and all who knew him are welcome to attend.
