Stephen Brian Gamble

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our brother, Stephen Brian Gamble, on December 28, 2024. Stephen was born in New Orleans, LA on January 25, 1956. He is predeceased by his father, Harry Pollard Gamble III, and mother, Eugenia Seavey Shirley. Stephen is survived by his step-mother, Erma Jane “EJ” Gamble; his brothers, Harry “Hank” P. Gamble IV (Shannon) and David B. Gamble (Jane); his nephews, Brett C Gamble (Nicole), Justin D Gamble (Katie), Jonathan D Gamble (Stephanie), Ryan H Gamble; his niece, Paige G Wade (Dylan); his god-daughter, Emilie A. H. Montgomery; his godson, George R Montgomery II; and lifelong friends, Christopher and Christa Montgomery. Stephen attended elementary and middle school at St. Martin’s Episcopal School and graduated from Sam Barthe School in 1975. Stephen’s passion for cooking led to a lifelong career in the food and beverage industry. His talents earned him the honored position of Sous-Chef at Commander’s Palace in New Orleans under Chef Gerhard Brill. Stephen and Brill left Commander’s Palace to open Gambrill’s Restaurant in Metairie, LA, a successful restaurant for many years. Stephen then moved to Tybee Island, GA where he opened The Brew Pub and was Head Chef at The Rivers Inn in Savannah, GA. He left Georgia to take a position at the Pensacola Yacht Club in 2004. After Hurricane Ivan, Stephen moved back to New Orleans, working for The New Orleans Lawn and Tennis Club for many years and taking care of his mother until her passing. Stephen will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him. Relatives and friends are invited to attend services on Friday, January 10, 2025. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans. There will also be a Celebration of Life memorial for Stephen later in the spring.
