Stephen J. Schmidt

Steve’s #1 priority in life was his family. He was a devoted son and a wonderful brother to his 3 siblings.

As a husband, he was intensely loyal and loving to his wife of 44 years.

As a father, he truly “came into his own”. He was passionate and selfless in caring for and providing for his 4 children.

As his family grew, his grandchildren became a constant source of joy. His favorite times were when his entire family was gathered; creating beautiful and lasting memories.

Steve was a contractor with a successful business for over 50 years. His devotion, work ethic and loyalty inspired many of his sub-contractors to remain with him for 30+ years.

Steve also enjoyed boating, traveling and gathering with family and friends as often as his busy schedule allowed.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur C. Schmidt and Marjorie W. Schmidt.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Dianne M. Schmidt; daughter, Emily Schmidt; sons, Kyle Schmidt (Amy), Collin Schmidt (Justina) and Conrad Schmidt; sister, Sylvia Schmidt; brothers, Arthur Schmidt, Jr. and Ron Schmidt; grandchildren, Stella Martyn, Patrick Martyn, Sadie Schmidt, Waylon Schmidt, Stevie Schmidt, Roman Schmidt, Finn Schmidt and Mack Schmidt.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life held on Saturday, October 10, 2026 from 2:00pm until 5:00pm at New Orleans Lakefront Airport, 6001 Stars and Stripes Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70126.
