Stephen F. Stabile

Stephen F. Stabile passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023 at the age of 97. He was a native of New Orleans and resident of Luling. Stephen proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy Merchant Marines and Civil Air Patrol. He graduated from Southeastern University with a Bachelor’s Degree and retired from Union Carbide after a long career. Stephen was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Shriner’s. He enjoyed flying his plane, fishing and crabbing and world travel.

Stephen is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary Stabile; brothers, Frank and John Stabile, and granddaughter, Meghan Stabile.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Vanida Stabile; son, Sidney Stabile (Shannon); daughters, Anna Burelle (John) and Stacy Orgeron (Brian); grandchildren, Paige Stabile, Jennifer Evans (Cody), Matthew McElveen (Shelly), Hayley Carrier (Joseph), Jessica Forristal, Stephen Forristal (Elizabeth); and great-grandchildren, Chandler, Benjamin, Callie, Gavin, Mylee, Grayson, Mason, Elwood and Alexander.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Heart of Hospice.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, on Monday, March 27, 2023 from 11:00am until the funeral service begins at 1:00pm. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery.
