

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home for Steven James Lachin, 27, who died on Monday, May 23, at his home in Katy, Texas. Steven was born in Lafayette, Louisiana, on July 30, 1988, to Paul and Cathy Lachin. He was a 2006 graduate of Ovey Comeaux High School. Upon his graduation, he moved with his family to Katy, Texas. He then relocated to Austin, where he graduated in 2011 from Media Tech Institute with a degree in audio engineering. It was in Austin where Steven began pursuing his dream of working in the music industry. He was employed by Transmission Entertainment as a production, stage, and backline manager for major events, including South by Southwest and Fun Fun Fun Fest. He quickly earned a reputation for his technical expertise, his managerial skills, and his ability to connect and communicate with anyone on any level. His gifts and ambitions led him to unique touring opportunities with bands Combichrist and Filter. These tours took Steven nationwide, from coast to coast and into Canada. Steven also had a passion for the camera, and became a skilled concert photographer and videographer. An imaginative musical innovator, he enjoyed designing, creating, and customizing a variety of musical instruments and sound equipment. Most important, he had a legion of friends nationwide who will attest to his charm, quick wit, and unparalleled sense of humor. Steven is survived by his parents Paul and Cathy Lachin, brother Thomas Patrick Lachin, maternal grandmother Helen Maxine Pondrom, paternal grandmother Merle Herbert Lachin, godparents Bill Pondrom and Linda Lohr Lachin. He is also survived by his aunts and uncles, including John and Terry Lachin, Lynn Lachin, Leslie and Will Nolan, Michael and Beth Lachin, David and Lisa Lachin, Philip Lachin, Lisa and Michael Landry, Kenneth and Deborah Lachin, Richard and Laurey Lachin, Margie and David Orgeron, and Bill and Leah Pondrom. He leaves behind a host of cousins, whom he loved dearly. Steven was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Edmund Jamison Pondrom, paternal grandfather John Marion Lachin, Jr., maternal uncle Patrick Howard Pondrom, and two cousins, Christopher Landry and Teddy Lightfoot. Burial will take place immediately following Tuesday’s service at Lake Lawn Park Cemetery, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations in Steven’s name to VH1 Save the Music Foundation, Citizens for Animal Protection - Houston, or the Jacob Crouch Foundation.
