Tootie graduated from Isadore Newman and Tulane University. He was a Navy veteran, having served in World War II in the Pacific Theater aboard the U.S.S. He then joined First Metropolitan Bank, later Hibernia, and retired as a branch manager in 1992. Dad was a devoted Mardi Gras fan, both as a rider in the Krewe of Okeanos and on the street catching doubloons and beads. He was a member of the Southern Yacht Club and was a past commodore of the Gulf Yachting Association. Tootie raced various one-design and off-shore sailing vessels both in Lake Pontchartrain, along the Gulf Coast and in Marblehead Mass. He was a professional race officer handling many national and international regattas on the lake and in Chicago and Rockport, Massachusetts. For forty years he was the Race Committee Chairman for the Race to Gulfport and Race to Pensacola, with Joel at his side.
The family wishes to thank Heart of Hospice for their care and concern during Dad’s last days.
