Suzanne departed this life peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones on July 9th, 2022. She was born Suzanne Soniat Pfefferle on September 27th, 1984, to Karl David Pfefferle and Jeanne Marie Jumonville.
She is survived by her parents, her adoring husband of 7 years, Dr. Jose David Tafur, her lively and spirited boys Santiago Jose (Santi) Tafur and Julian David (Juli) Tafur, and her three brothers Karl David Pfefferle Jr. (Elia), Erik Weingart Pfefferle (Heather) and Keith Elliot Pfefferle (Lindsay). Also, her mother and father-in-law Jose Hermes Tafur and Gloria Soto de Tafur, her sister-in-law Sandra Marcela Tafur (Humberto). She is further survived by her aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her friends Brittany Turner Martin, Erin Forstall Guttenberg and Shea Leatherman and countless lifetime friends.
Suzanne was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. She grew up in Lakeview in St. Dominic Parish, lived uptown New Orleans after her marriage to Jose. She attended St. Dominic School, Mount Carmel Academy, Loyola University, and Our Lady of the Holy Cross College and received her Master’s in English from the University of New Orleans.
From a very young age Suzanne wanted to be a writer. She authored and published a book, produced two film documentaries, and wrote countless articles for several publications: In most recent years The New Orleans Advocate/Times Picayune.
Suzanne was filled with adventure, setting out on many travel destinations. Her joy was spending time and traveling with Jose and the boys while dressing up with cute outfits. She loved her dog Baco and spending Sunday evenings with family and friends enjoying boiled crabs.
Suzanne was kind and gracious to all. She was strong and courageous with a “conquer all” attitude. She will be remembered for her gentle demeanor, and a heart filled with love and gratitude.
Our thanks and appreciation to the numerous doctors, nurses and healthcare workers at Ochsner Medical Center, the National Institutes of Health and Passages Hospice who took wonderful care of her. Thank you to all our friends and family that surrounded her and her family with prayers and love.
Relatives and friends are invited to St. Dominic church 775 Harrison Ave, New Orleans, LA on Friday July the 15th for visitation from 9:30 to 11:45 am, followed by 12:00 mass and interment to follow at St. Louis No. 3 Cemetery.
