Sylvia Juanita Wingerter Parr

Sylvia Juanita Wingerter Parr passed away peacefully on Monday, May 4, 2020 at the age of 96. She was born in Algiers (New Orleans) to the late Marguerite Anna Abbott Wingerter and the late Sylvester Ferdinand Wingerter. She is preceded in death by her husband, William Alvin Parr. They were married for over 38 years when he passed away in 1982. Sylvia is also preceded in death by her daughter, Jean Parr Mills. Sylvia is the loving mother of, June Parr Angelloz (Bob Traylor, Sr.), Jane Parr Kazemi (Mark), Jill Parr Malone (Lonnie) and William Wallace Parr; sister of Anita “Elsie” Alexander, Verna Miles and Marguerite Desselle; also sister of the late Marvin, the late Sylvester, Roland and the late William Wingerter; grandmother of 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 7 great great-grandchildren. Sylvia enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a wonderful mother and person. She was adored by all who knew her and will be missed by all. A private service was held on Friday, May 15, 2020 at 12 Noon at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home and officiated by Reverend John Edmonds.
