As devout Catholics, they were active in church and were members of St. Luke the Evangelist Church. Tanya was also very active in several clubs in Slidell, including the Slidell Newcomers Club where she reigned as Maid in their Mardi Gras ball, the Red Hats social club, a book club, and a cooking club. She loved to travel abroad; Italy, Turkey, New Zealand, Greece, Australia, Alaska, China, Russia, and France were just some of her favorite destinations.

She is survived by: her loving husband of 61 years, Robert Joseph Troyer; her daughter, Tanya Troyer Hatch (George Hatch); her son, Tate John Troyer (Gina Troyer); her sister, Gretchen Steinwinder Rosato (Jerry Rosato); her three grandchildren, Adam Troyer, Ryan Lazaroe, and Robert Jesse Troyer; her four great-grandchildren, Griffyn, Rowan, and Pierson Troyer and Luca Michael Lazaroe; her godchild, Michelle Troyer; and her nephew, Bodhi Troyer.

Bob, I do truly and sincerely offer my sincere condolences on your great loss of Tanya after 61 years of marriage. I know how weak and fruitless are any words of mine with which I would attempt to console you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. I pray that God may help you bear the grief and anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of Tanya.

Most Sincerely,
Alan Abadie

I had the privilege of working with Tanya in St. Bernard Parish. There are a few special teachers who leave a lasting impression on students. Tanya was one of these teachers. She will live forever in the hearts and minds of the students and educators whose lives she touched.
