IN THE CARE OF

Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home & Cemeteries

Terrence (Terry) Lee Rankin, passed away at the age of 78, closing the chapter on a life marked by service, curiosity and quiet creativity.

Terry was born in New London, Connecticut, and grew up in Kenner, Louisiana. He graduated from East Jefferson High School and proudly served his country in the United States Navy. After his military service, he dedicated more than 50 years to federal service, with long careers at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Department of the Interior.

Dad had a lifelong love of history and was known for his sharp wit and encyclopedic knowledge; he remained undefeated in Trivial Pursuit. A gifted artist, he loved to draw and paint and took pride in caring for his plants. He enjoyed New Orleans cuisine, especially oysters and daiquiris, and found joy in admiring the night sky and stars.

Terry is survived by his wife, Marguerite Ranlett Rankin; his children, Brandon Rankin, Cherie Rankin, Mandi Rankin Porta (Keith), and Travis Rankin (Lena); and his daughter, Trenny Williston (John), from a previous marriage; his grandchildren, Max Porta and Brody Porta; his sister, Carla Harrison; and his niece, Sarah Easparro (Brandon). He was preceded in death by his parents, Leola Hanby and Charles Rankin.

Immediate family held a private service.
