

Thelma is pre-deceased by her parents Ana Gysin Fos and Batiste Fos, and by her brothers Herbert and Stanley Fos, all of New Orleans.
She was married to the late immigration attorney David A. Kattan, Esq. of Honduras for 47 years.
She is survived by their three children: Darlene Kattan, Daniel Kattan, and Dianne Kattan Bernasconi (Mark), and by their six grandchildren: Christopher Kattan, Lauren Kattan, Darren Kattan (Annelies Martinez), Danielle Bernasconi Kennedy (Brian), Nicholas Bernasconi, and David Bernasconi.
At the time of her death, Thelma was the longest-living alum of Francis T. Nicholls High School, Class of 1942. She was a career executive secretary, first in her husband’s coffee company, and then a legal secretary in his immigration law offices. She is a Past President of The New Orleans Women’s Club as well as Past President of the New Orleans Legal Secretary Assn. and taught a course in same at Tulane University. She was a lifetime member of her beloved Redeemer Lutheran Church. She was an avid newsletter writer for her clubs and Church. She is a Past President of the Lakeview Chapter of AARP in NOLA. In Fairhope she was a member of the Newcomers Club and the Eastern Shore Federated Women’s Club. She insisted it be known that she loved the women’s store Talbots near Fairhope, and will miss her shopping sprees there!
There will be two separate services: Thursday, January 3rd at 1:00PM in New Orleans – Lutheran Service at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home at 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. On Friday, January 4th at 2:00PM in Fairhope, AL - Lutheran memorial service at Redeemer Lutheran Church at 200 S. Section Street. Friends and family are invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, Thelma requested that there be donations to The Autism Society of Greater New Orleans honoring her grandson Christopher. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Ochsner Hospital whose care of “Miss Thelma” as they called her was focused, kind, and most loving during her final days.
