Thelma Eichhorn Meridier

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 30 years, Philbert Charles Meridier, her parents, Alvin August Eichhorn and Eugenie Deimel Eichhorn, and her siblings, Edith Eichhorn Jacobs and Aimee Eichhorn Gill.

She is survived by her beloved children, Gwenith Meridier Schoenhardt, Bonnie Meridier Schmit, and Phil Charles Meridier, grandchildren, Jennifer Schmit Christensen, Norman Charles Schoenhardt, Julie Schmit Lasseigne, and Ashlie Schoenhardt Duplichen, and great-grandchildren, Molly, Emma, Sarina, and Joseph. She is also survived by her sister, Carole Eichhorn Gaines.

Thelma loved to garden and cared deeply about animals, often giving to animal welfare charities and adopting homeless dogs and cats. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Chalmette for many years.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Anderson Memory Care for their compassionate care of Thelma during her final years.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA. Visitation will be held from 11 AM – 1 PM with a service to begin at 1 PM. Interment will follow at Metairie Cemetery.
