Theresa Ann Bernstein

Theresa Ann Bernstein passed away October 20, 2016 at Walden Health Care Center in Kenner, Louisiana. She was born in New Orleans in 1941 and baptized Theresa Ann Marie, the younger of two daughters of the late Philip Simon and Theresa Monjure Bernstein. She is survived by five cousins: Mary Ann Hotstream, Ronald Hotstream, Gus Hotstream, Dolores H. Schroeder and Deborah H. Delaune of Metairie. She was pre-deceased by her only sister, Sister Eleanor Bernstein, a member of the Congregation of St. Joseph. Theresa received a B. A. in Education from St. Mary’s Dominican College in 1967, a M.Ed. from the University in New Orleans in 1971 and certification as a Reading Specialist in 1975. Theresa was employed by the St. Bernard Parish School Board for 21 years serving as teacher and primarily as a reading specialist. Visitation will take place on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. by Reverend Michael Mitchell in the Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home chapel. Interment will be in Lake Lawn Park. In lieu of flowers, masses are preferred.
