It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Thomas F. Gorman at home on March 8, 2025, after a 3-year battle with congestive heart failure. Tommy was born in New Orleans, LA on January 19, 1948, and died in Metairie, LA at the age of 77. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives he has touched.
He graduated in the class of 1965 from Redemptorist High School. That same year, he joined the US Marine Corp during the Vietnam War.
Tommy worked as a conductor for The Illinois Central Railroad for 25 years, where he was involved with the Illinois Central Regional Safety Committee. He also volunteered for several years in the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office Reserve Division.
He had a true passion for drag racing but also loved Nascar and collecting diecast cars and other racing memorabilia. Tommy was steadfast and driven; he loved God, his family, and his country, and enjoyed music, dancing, and watching his grandkids play. Whatever he did, he was all in!
