Tommy Yeu Tong Chin passed away peacefully in his sleep at home with his family. He was 86 years old and was the husband of Siu Ngan Ma Chin for 66 years. Their children are Wah K. Chin (Sheila), K. Wing Chin, Rosemary C. Broussard (Ray) and Kenny K.Y. Chin. Their grandchildren are Madeleine A. Broussard and Nicholas T. Broussard.
Mr. Chin is preceded in death by his parents Chin See Fun and Chin Mar Soui Ting. Mr. Chin is also preceded in death by his son-in-law John Ray Broussard (March 13, 2020).
Starting at age 16, Mr. Chin worked at Gulf Food Products, Inc. in Grand Isle, LA. He managed production of dried shrimp (ha mai) and dried salty fish (hom ngui) for international distribution.
Mr. Chin was owner of Chong Wah Cleaners on Magazine Street and Chong Wah Cleaners on Elysian Fields Avenue. He later opened Ho Sye Guy Chinese Restaurant in Chalmette and Chin’s Restaurant in New Orleans East. His final business before retirement was Canal Cleaners on Canal Street.
Mr. Chin was an avid fisherman and enjoyed traveling.
Services for Mr. Chin will be Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Lake Lawn Funeral Home. Visitation from 9-11am. Funeral begins at 11am. Internment follows.
