Val Haydel Sarris

She is preceded in death by her husband of 78 years, Charles Chris Sarris , Jr; sons, Charles C. Sarris III (Sandy) and John Thomas Sarris; parents, John M. Haydel and Velma Louise Menendez Haydel; and brother, John Murphy Haydel, Jr. (Blanche)

Val is survived by her daughter, Terry Sarris Plaisance (Wes); son, Robert A. Sarris (Bonnie); grandchildren, Patrick Plaisance (Alexandra), Pamela Plaisance Stein (Gregory), Sandra “Shelly” S. Tindall (Benjamin), Kristin Sarris, and Maci Sarris; and great-grandchildren, Mara Plaisance, Simon Plaisance, Caleb Tindall, Ehtan Tindall, Costa Gomez, Sterling Gomez, Elliot Stein, and Nate Stein. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Val LOVED cards, games, and especially, casinos.

She was a resident of Avanti Senior Living at the time of her death. Her family wishes to thank to thank the staff of the facility as well as Nini Jackson and Passages Hospice for the wonderful care. Most of all, the family wants to thank Lisa Holloway for the loving care she gave Val during the (almost) last two years of her life. You treated her like family, and we will always remember your kindness.

The visitation and funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124. The visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. until the mass at 10:00 a.m. The interment will follow at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
