Valerie Frey Weigand

Valerie Frey Weigand passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at the age of 92 years old. She is survived by her children Barbara Weigand Scortino (Dominick), Beverly Weigand and Valerie Weigand Hiser(John); grandchildren Dominick Scortino Jr. (Jennifer), Susan Aucoin (Dwayne), Christopher Massari (Kendra), Darren Massari, Jennifer Hiser and Stephanie Hiser; great grandchildren Dominick III and Mia Scortino, Emily, Benjamin and Henry Aucoin and Sam Massari. She is also survived by her sister Imelda Frey Bernard, her nieces and nephews Marilyn Bernard, Benjamin Bernard, Robert Bernard, Jane Bernard Evans, William Bernard, Monica Bernard Knauer and numerous other nieces, nephews and family members. Valerie is preceded in death by her parents Severin Leonard Frey and Valeria Waltzer Frey and her siblings Melaine Frey Meyer, Adele Frey Lagarde and Lawrence Frey.

Valerie retired from LA Frey & Son after many years of work. She was the recipient of the St. Louis Medal and enjoyed being a Brownie and Sodality leader. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Special thanks and appreciation to Father Alan Roy for his friendship, support and guidance over many years. The family would also like to thank Concerned Hospice, especially Catherine Duronslet, Gretchen Hurlcert and Rachelle Jackson for all of their compassion.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service at Holy Spirit Church, 6201 Stratford Pl. New Orleans, LA 70131, on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at 10AM. Visitation will begin at 9AM until service time. In lieu of flowers, family request donations be made to Holy Spirit Church.
