Vandy Wright, Jr.

On the evening of May 4, 2023, Vandy Wright, Jr., affectionately called “Uncle PeeWee” by some of his nieces and nephews, was called home by the Lord at the age of seventy-seven. He was born on Friday to the union of Vandy Wright, Sr. and Marguerite Kimble Wright.

A member of New Zion Baptist Church, Vandy accepted Christ at a young age and was baptized on Palm Sunday. He enjoyed dressing up in his finest suit and tie to attend service at New Zion Baptist Church, where he was a member. He loved spending time with family, watching a good movie and sipping on a strawberry shake. He was an avid Saints fan and collected Saints memorabilia.

Vandy Wright, Jr., was preceded in death by his parents, Vandy Wright, Sr. and Marguerite Kimble Wright; his brothers Earl Wright Sr. and Clifford Butler. He is survived by his sister Geraldine Butler Lomax, sister-in-law Rose Wright, and a host of nieces and nephews and will be dearly missed by all.

A visitation for Vandy will begin at 9:00 AM on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 AM, and interment thereafter at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 4000 Norman Mayer Ave., New Orleans, LA 70122.
