Verna was preceded in death by her loving husband of sixty years, Deacon Sterling Francis Ohlmeyer; parents Abner and Edith Roy; and brother Aaron Roy, MD. She is survived by daughter Karen Ohlmeyer Johnson; grandson Christopher Daniel Johnson; granddaughter Julia Adele Ludvik; great-grandchildren Raegan June Ludvik, Roy Taft Johnson, Walter Sterling Johnson, and Chase Daniel Johnson; brother Charlie Roy; sisters-in-law Delores Roy and Linda Roy; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
A graduate of Opelousas High School, Verna served Southern Baptist Hospital for many years as a ward clerk and was a devout parishioner of St. Lawrence the Martyr Catholic Church in Metairie, LA. She will be dearly missed by many.
A funeral Mass for Verna will be held Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124. Following the funeral Mass will be an interment at St. Louis Cemetery No. 3, 3421 Esplanade Ave., New Orleans, LA 70119.
