Vernon Salvadore Bourgeois Sr.

Vernon Salvadore Bourgeois, Sr. a retired Salesman from Sears Appliance and Automotive Department passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at age 85. Beloved husband of Peggy Wertz Bourgeois for 65 years. Son of the late Earl Joseph Bourgeois, Sr. and Sarah Gamino Bourgeois. Loving father of Michele Bourgeois Atkins, Vernon Salvadore Bourgeois, Jr., Bryan J. Bourgeois, Remy Paul Bourgeois and Barry M. Bourgeois, Sr. Brother of Doris B. Seruntine, Earl Bourgeois and the late Norma B. French, Raymond Bourgeois and Charles Bourgeois. Grandfather of Rebecca, Michael, Barry M. Jr. and Andrew M. Bourgeois, Jennifer Carlin and Megan Stevens. Also survived by 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was a Lay Minister, choir member, Adoration Chairman with St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Slidell. Mr. Bourgeois served in the United States Navy Reserve and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time.
