Victor P. Chisesi, MD passed away peacefully at his beloved Garden District home on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at the age of 85. He is preceded in death by his parents Lena and Victor Chisesi and his beloved sister, Rose Annette Chisesi. Vic is survived by many loving cousins and friends. Dr. Chisesi graduated from Jesuit High School in 1949, followed by two years of pre-medical education at Tulane University. He then joined the United States Air Force where he served as a Staff Sergeant in the hospital. He returned to his beloved Tulane University where he completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology with a minor in Chemistry in 1958. Vic then entered Tulane Medical School obtaining an M. D. degree in 1962. His Internship was then performed at St. Vincent’s Hospital in New York City followed by a residency at the Ochsner Foundation Hospital in Orthopedics. Dr. Chisesi passed the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons, became a member of the Louisiana Orthopedic Association and was admitted to the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery as a Fellow. Dr. Chisesi was an instructor on the staff at Tulane Medical School in the Dept. of Orthopedics and entered into a solo practice of Orthopedic Surgery before forming a partnership with Drs. S. J. LoCoco and William M. Pusateri in 1976. Vic was on the staffs of East Jefferson General Hospital, Mercy Hospital, Doctors Hospital and Elmwood Medical Center. Dr. Chisesi was a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery, the Caldwell Society of Orthopedics, the Louisiana State Medical Society, the Orleans Parish Medical Society, the Southern Medical Association, the Western Fibula Society- Vernon Nicholls Alumni Association, and the Louisiana Orthopedic Society. Vic was also a member of the Krewe of Bacchus, the Vieux Carre Property Owners Association, the New Orleans Museum of Art, the Friends of the Cabildo and the Le Petit Theatre de Vieux Carre and its Board of Governors. He was also a member and on the Board of the Gamma Mu Foundation. Vic was a world traveler, theater and opera aficionado, old fashioned connoisseur, well-dressed bow tie lover, Tulane cheerleader, opinionated sports enthusiast who was willing to shout down any LSU fan with a hearty hellabaloo! Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 12:00 PM at Lake Lawn Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Metairie Cemetery.
