Violet was a homemaker born in New Orleans and moved to Covington in 2005. She loved her family fiercely raising two boys and sitting for her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends.
A self taught seamstress, she loved sewing christening gowns, Mardi Gras costumes, and clothes for her grandchildren. There wasn’t a pattern she couldn’t sew!
She was accomplished in crocheting, creating beautiful heirloom pieces that will be cherished by her family.
Her cooking reputation preceded her. She enjoyed teaching and sharing her recipes with anyone who wanted to listen.
Most recently she resided at St. Anthony’s Gardens in Covington where she quickly became a member of their family.
She was the beloved wife for 59 years of the late Conrad P. Chanove, Sr.; loving mother of Conrad Chanove, Jr. (Darlene) and the late Stephen Chanove; grandmother of Kristen Anderson (Rick), Conrad Chanove III (Ashley), Randy Chanove, Ashley Gallagher (Randy), and Chad Chanove; great grandmother of Luke and Reed Anderson, and Reece Gallagher; sister of Fay Miller (the late Raymond), Melvin Gonzales (Sylvia), and Roselyn Poitevent (E. J.); and daughter of the late Adam and Mildred Cancienne Gonzales. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Covington. The family would like to thank St. Anthony’s residents and staff for their loving care and friendship.
