

Virginia Morgan Speeg passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2014 at the age of 90. Born January 17, 1924 in Portsmouth, Ohio, a founding and longtime parishioner of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Metairie. She was the beloved wife of the late Davis Eugene Speeg, and the daughter of the late Raymond M. Morgan and Pauline Sowkulech Morgan. At University Hospital, Baltimore, MD, she obtained her Registered Nurse degree; later, a BS from Holy Cross College in New Orleans. She was a Captain in the Army Nursing Corps, World War II, and a member of the VFW, American Legion, and the New Orleans Power Squadron. A loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, with a dedication to family and friends; she will be fondly remembered by those she touched.
Survived by her children Raymond David Speeg and wife Dr. Pat Speeg, Shirley Gene Speeg Bougere and husband Daniel, and Dr. Stephen Warner Speeg and wife Donna; grandchildren Daniel Bougere and partner Matthew Thompson, Michelle Bougere Hariel and husband Kirk, Drs. Jeremy Speeg and wife Emily, Shannon Speeg, Kristen Speeg Lazarine and husband Robert, Wade Speeg, Trisha Speeg, and Alyssa Speeg; great grandchildren Keira and Zoey Hariel, Cecilia, Davis and Eloise Speeg, and Luke Lazarine.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Kent M. Rhodes, Hospice Compassus, the Baker House, Oakwood Village Assisted Living, and Zachary Manor Nursing Home for their compassionate and loving care.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Friday, October 24, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 9:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
