Walter Fane Suthon died peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Sunday, March 5, 2023. He was 59 years old. Walter attended Sam Barthe School in Metairie, Louisiana, where he made lifelong friends. He went on to attend and graduate from Isidore Newman School in 1982 and the University of Mississippi in 1986. In 1992, Walter married Hilary Molony, and together they welcomed their two beautiful children, Lillian (Lilly) Ellen Suthon, and Liam Molony Suthon into the family.
Walter excelled as a retail salesman within the men's clothing industry. He spent many years working at Perlis Clothing Store in New Orleans, Louisiana. For the past several years he worked at Joseph A. Banks Clothiers in Mandeville, Louisiana. A social, caring and empathetic person, many of Walter's customers kept in regular contact with him throughout his two-year battle with cancer. Thank you; your caring was and is so deeply appreciated.
Prior to his illness, Walter's passion for the heart of football called him back to work alongside his former teachers and coaches as a volunteer statitician and spotter for many seasons of Isidore Newman School football.
In closing, we issue our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Kendra Harris for her guidance, knowledge and above all, compassion and friendship, throughout Walter's courageous battle. Thank you for being with us all the way, my friend.
Walter is survived by his wife, Hilary Molony Suthon, his children, Lilly and Liam Suthon, his brothers, Felton Suthon and Ward Suthon (Lori), his sister, Dotty Suthon, mother-in-law Charlotte K. Molony, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Bridget M. Dupuy and George L. Dupuy, and nieces, Cate Suthon, and Mary Devon Dupuy Gauchet (Geoffrey). He is preceded in death by his parents, Ellen (DeeDee) Griffen Suthon and Lucius Felton Suthon, Sr.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 16 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home in New Orleans, Louisiana. Visitation will be at 11:00 a.m. followed by a Memorial Service at Noon and internment at 1:00 p.m.
