Wanda W. Ricau

Wanda Ricau passed away on January 23, 2023 at the age of 68. She was born on October 26, 1954 in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Herbert and Rita Wilson. After graduating high school, she worked as a secretary for Federal Judge Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. She was a member of the Bayou Liberty Garden Club, Secretary for the Bee Club, Slidell Ladies for Liberty, Mother of Twins Club, Junior Auxiliary of Slidell, and the Registrar for Slidell Youth Soccer Club. In her free time, she loved caring for any animal in need. She rescued horses, kept the feral cats and dogs nourished in the Slidell area, and raised honey bees. She enjoyed going to garage sales. Wanda was happy to devote her time to helping the community by serving as a poll worker and volunteering as a soccer coach. Her faith was dearly important to her, and she was happy to help the church when needed. She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Richard Ricau; daughters, Bridget Ricau and Rachel Dahmer (and her favorite son-in-law, Austin Dahmer); sons, Mark and Ryan Ricau (Shelby); grandchildren, Sage and Lena Ricau and Eli Dahmer; brother, Herb Wilson (Margaret); nieces, Jessica and Stephanie; and other distant family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert Ansley Wilson, Sr. and Rita Casteix Wilson. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans, on Monday, January 30, 2023 at 11 AM. Visitation will begin at 9 AM. A graveside service will follow Mass.
