

He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana to Walter F. Weidig, Jr. and Caroline Geraci Weidig, who predeceased him. Wayne went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree from Southeastern Louisiana College. After which, Wayne studied acting at the Strasberg Acting Institute and pursued an acting career in L.A. for six years before returning home. Upon his return to New Orleans, he began a career with Cargill and became their top salesman. He retired from Cargill after 20 years of service.
Wayne was a bona fide veteran of Woodstock as well as a lifelong musician and lover of the Beatles, rock and roll, and movies.
He is survived by his daughter, Krista Weidig Toscher (Loren); sister, Dale W. Holifield (Curry); brother, W. Paul Weidig (Jennifer); granddaughter, Noa C. Toscher; partner, Vicky Kernan; nephews, Jacob “Mac” Dickinson V (Becky) and Luci M. Dickinson; and many, many friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans, on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at 11 AM. Visitation will begin at 9 AM. Following Mass, he will be laid to rest in Lake Lawn Park.
