Will Percy Reed

Will Percy Reed was born on August 22, 1944. He transitioned from his earthly vessel to his celestial new beginning on August 8, 2023, at the age of 78. W. Percy Reed was an active law enforcement officer working for the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office and retired from the New Orleans Police Department after 20 years. Throughout his career of over 50 years, he served as a homicide detective, special agent, and U.S. Marshall. He received many merit awards during his time with NOPD and was highly regarded among fellow officers and the city. They respected and loved him dearly, his U.S. Marshal’s family.

He has also served as a secret service agent to a former presidential candidate. W. Percy Reed is a former professional boxer, and boxer trainer for the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office inmates. He earned his Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from Delgado Community College and went on to receive his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Loyola University. W. Percy Reed was well read, articulate, studious, well-traveled and visited several countries as a boxer and agent in his leisure time.

He is the father of Dr. Linda Reed McMillian, Sheena Reed, Dr. Percy W. Reed, and Samara Dauphine. He is preceded in death by his siblings Raymond Reed, Tim Dorsey, and Linda A. Dorsey. Survived by his brother Herbert Reed, Jr. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Antionette Legaux, Christopher McMillian, Dominique Reed, Anthony Legaux, Rashad McMillian, Fanchon McMillian, 7 great grandchildren: and a host of nieces, nephews, family, friends, and members of the New Orleans Police Department, U.S. Marshals Service, and Secret Service.

All are invited to attend his going home celebration at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Boulevard, New Orleans, Louisiana 70124, visitation will begin at 10:00am followed by a funeral service at 11:00am officiated by Dr. P.W. Reed. Interment will be private. A reception will be held in the Event Center of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home after the funeral.
