William Wilkie Roberts joined his wife, Cecilia Newman Roberts, and the Lord in eternal rest and peace on Tuesday, May 5, 2020. Born on August 1, 1941, Bill was the only child of Archie L. Roberts (of Kentucky) and Laura Domingues Roberts (of Jeanerette, Louisiana). He grew up in Lakeview and enjoyed walking a block to the Lakeview Theater on Harrison Avenue to see movies when he was young. Bill graduated from Warren Easton High School and Soule Commercial College and then worked as an accountant for the City of New Orleans for many years before retiring. He and his wife opened their home to foster children during their younger years as a couple and felt the blessings of caring for those young children. Bill enjoyed reading historical fiction and mystery novels. He loved the New Orleans Saints and cheered for them throughout his life, supporting the “Aints” and later celebrating their Super Bowl victory. He loved his dog, Dixie, and missed him very much after moving to Colonial Oaks Living Center. Bill and his wife lived in West Lakeview until Hurricane Katrina and then moved to Metairie. They spent their later years at Colonial Oaks Living Center where they were well cared for by the staff. Special thanks to the many people at Colonial who extended consideration to Bill during the years he lived there. He loved the many friends he made as a resident of Colonial and felt embraced by them. He always had time to listen to anyone who approached him to talk to him and share stories.
