William Shiell IV

June 20, 1946 – March 14, 2026
Obituary of William Shiell IV
IN THE CARE OF

Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home & Cemeteries

William Shiell IV, lovingly known to his family and friends as “Bubba”, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026, at the age of 79 in his home in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Born June 20, 1946, in Clearwater, Florida, William was the son of William Shiell III and Mary Carolyn Sloan. He built his life on the love he received from them and his wonderful grandparents, Don “Papaw” and Lucille “Baboo” Sloan, whom he cherished his entire life. He enjoyed traveling and lived most of his life in Montreal and New Orleans, where he married his one and only true love.

William was the devoted husband of Janet Marie Broussard and a proud father of his son, William Shiell V. He was also a cherished grandfather to three grandchildren, Dr. Alexandra “Alie” Shiell, William “Will” Shiell VI, and Tristan Joshua Shiell. Each of whom brought him immense pride and joy.

Known for his tremendous personality, charm, and unmistakable charisma, William had a way of making everyone feel welcome. His humor, generous spirit, and loving nature left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Though his physical strength may have waned in his later years, his tremendous capacity to love, give, and to enjoy life fully remained powerful and unwavering till the end.

A graveside service will be held on April 7, 2026, at 2:00 pm at the Therriot family tomb in Metairie Cemetery, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA.
